I've written the first draft of a romantic thriller called The Loyal Killer. I hope to release it in a year's time. Here's an excerpt from this novella:

There is a man running down the road and Claire can’t see his face yet when he turns around, she sees that his face is a mask. She is running towards him and when she sees the mask, she freezes and thousands of flies descend on his face, stripping the mask away to reveal a hollow tree. Claire is surrounded by elm, oak, and pine soaring high above her and she floats above them, looking at the child below. The child has long golden hair with no ribbons or bows as ornaments and Claire watches the child run along the forest path, looking for somewhere to hide, away from the man
